Houses the Department of Animal Science’s dairy herd. Built in 1991, the 25,000-square-foot facility can house up to 100 adult cows and has a computerized milking parlor and feeding systems, a classroom, research labs and student living quarters. Several students live in the KDC, providing security and helping care for the herd. The cows are used for teaching, research and extension by the faculty and students of the Department of Animal Science in the areas of anatomy, physiology, genetics, environmental health, livestock management and food science.
Features: Dairy and beef cows. Dairy cows milked at 1:00PM and fed at 9:30AM and 4:30PM. Young dairy calves present year-round. Classroom, public observation area, laboratory and animal surgery.
