Research Interests
My research program primarily involves the development of methods to reduce
environmental problems associated with the production of agricultural crops.
Examples of these types of projects are: 1) development of a tissue test
to determine excess nitrogen applications to corn, 2) narrow row spacing
for silage corn to increase yield and decrease herbicide use, 3) development
of soil and tissue tests for nitrogen management in pumpkins, and 4) the
effect of increased plant population on yield and nitrogen removal in sweet
corn. I also have projects investigating the use of agricultural land for
disposal of waste products and projects in Sustainable Agriculture. Examples
of these projects are: application of water treatment plant residual that
has been modified with phosphorus to cornland and a survey of the Connecticut
agricultural community's attitudes towards sustainable agriculture.
