Research that has been underway recently includes (a) investigations of
pasture growth rates, pasture yields and changes in botanical composition,
and movement of nitrate-nitrogen in the soils of pastures intensively grazed
by sheep, (b) evaluation of kura clover as a new forage legume, and (c)
the evaluation of a number of Brassica species for use as late-season
herbage. All of these programs involve field and laboratory work and all
have been conducted with the involvement of graduate students at both the
Ph.D. and M.S. level. The former program has been conducted in cooperation
with the Department of Animal Science.
