Introduction to Crop Science
Several basic desciplines are integrated into the study of crop science.
The overall goal is to achieve an understanding of the processes involved
in the production of agricultural crops, their quality, and the ecological
systems involved in their management. Increasing attention has been directed
toward environmental issues in recent years. Of particular concern are
the issues of water quality and pesticide use. Hence, students interested
in crop science will obtain a broad education in the biological, chemical,
and agricultural sciences.
Students graduating from this field of study frequently enter graduate
schools to pursue advanced degrees, enter federal and state service, or
become employed in the business sector.
