Welcome to my site!  Bienvenidos a mi sitio!

You landed in my virtual world.  I hope that I can interest you enough to join me in some of the ventures around the globe.

My scientific interest has brought me from working exclusively with animals to try to understand ecosystems.  Today I am interested on how a prey affects the social system of a predator and how a predator affects the abundance and distribution of the prey.  You can look at this from the typical carnivore over herbivores (in Patagonia: puma eating guanacos; in Connecticut: solitary coyotes eating small animals, but perhaps forming packs to try to capture white tail deer).  You can also observe this phenomenon as how herbivores affect plants and vice-versa (In Patagonia: guanacos affecting vegetation of wetlands, and how these wetlands affect the guanaco territorial system).

My teaching is based not on books, but knowledge acquired in the field.  I love to see students learning directly from the source, either here in Connecticut, Patagonia, or Africa.  Ecosystems are there to be touched, smelled, enjoyed and more than anything learn from them.
