Undergraduate Program
The University of Connecticut's Undergraduate Program
provides students with a rigorous education in natural
resources management and technology with a strong background
in basic sciences and liberal arts. Opportunities exist
for a variety of career options and lifelong learning
experiences.
The Department is in the College
of Agriculture and Natural Resources and has faculty
and staff with teaching, research, and public service
responsibilities in Programs consisting of Atmospheric Resources, Earth
Resource Information Systems (LERIS), Fisheries
Management, Forestry/Forest
Ecology, Water
Resources, and Wildlife
Management.
The NRME undergraduate program is divided into five concentrations, a concentration being akin to a minor but within the major field of study rather than in a different major field of study. The concentrations allow NRME students to deepen their educational experience in an area of their interest. The concentrations are in Air and Water Resources, Environmental Conservation, Fisheries and Wildlife Conservation, Forest Resources, and Geomatics. NRME students must declare a concentration and adhere to its requirements that can be found by following the above links. Upon graduation, the concentration appears on the transcript as an official recognition of a specialization in that area.
Many entry level positions are
open in the public and private sectors such as
the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife
Service, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency,
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, State Environmental
Protection or Natural Resources Agencies, Forest
Industries, Land Planners and Developers, Natural
Resources Consulting Services, and more.
The Department of Natural Resources Management and Engineering has several concentrations in which undergraduate students can enrich their educational experience by focusing their studies in several central areas of natural resources management. We offer concentrations in Air and Water Resources, Environmental Conservation, Fisheries and Wildlife Conservation, Forest Resources, and Geomatics. Students officially enroll in a concentration and, upon successful completion, have this accomplishment appear on their official transcripts.
Students in other departments can minor in Wildlife Conservation by completing the courses listed here.
