The Down To Earth CSA is looking for a farmer/manager to grow organic vegetable crops for 20-30 shares from about Apr 1-Oct.31, 2007 on our farm in Stafford, Connecticut. We need an individual with the skills, experience and/or education necessary to plant, grow, harvest, and distribute vegetable crops to supply the members weekly with a variety of organic vegetables from June -Oct or early Nov. The farmer/manager will coordinate the work of work share members and weekly help from the remaining members. Planting cover crops, mulching, weeding, adding soil amendments and composting will also be required.  The land owner has 2 tractors & implements and will do all t he tractor work required. the workshare members will plant, weed, & assist the farmer/manager throughout the season. Housing may be available.

The farm consists of 89 acres of land on both sides of a state highway. There are several fertile, fairly level fields, approximately 15 acres in extent, which were used for vegetable farming, cattle pasture, and hay production.  The remainder of the land is in woodland, rockfalls, and wetlands with a small stream.  The land was farmed by the same family 1910.
