Teaching. Research. Outreach. These
diverse, yet unified, areas characterize our mission even more
today than they did when UConn started here 125 years ago.
The
College of Agriculture and Natural Resources offers quality teaching to
both undergraduates and graduates. To achieve this goal,
we rely on our talented faculty and state-of-the-art facilities. In
addition, we make students a priority by promoting student organizations
and providing real-life experiences outside of the classroom.
Strong laboratory and field-based research programs generate
new knowledge, which is geared to the needs of today’s society. Together
with the Storrs Agricultural Experiment Station, our researchers find solutions
to agricultural, environmental, food, family and quality of life concerns for
all of Connecticut and beyond.
By conducting outreach education and beneficial service programs
throughout the State, the Connecticut Cooperative Extension System helps us
disseminate our discoveries beyond the Storrs campus. They bring youth,
adults and families knowledge and assistance right where they can use it most,
in their own communities.
The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources wants to show you more details
about our diverse teaching, research and outreach programs. Please search
this new website to see how our impact has grown since 1881.

Vision
The vision of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources
is to be one of the highest quality institutions that generates new knowledge,
disseminates knowledge in formal and informal settings, engages societal needs,
provides leadership for problem solving, improves the quality of life for all
people of the State of Connecticut and participates in global citizenship.
Mission
The role of the land-grant university is to develop knowledge and
disseminate it through the three academic functions of teaching, research, and
outreach education. This role is based in historic federal legislation including
the Morrill, Hatch, Smith-Lever, McIntire-Stennis, and Animal Health acts, and
enabling state statutes.
