Outcome Measures

  • Provide a dietetics education in the Dietetic Internship that meets or exceeds the foundation skills necessary and a concentration in urban issues to meet the competencies as approved by the American Dietetic Association.
  • Achieve a rating of Satisfactory (Meets performance level most of the time, applies knowledge, and demonstrates competence) or better at the conclusion of each of the major rotations having an urban issues concentration; (clinical dietetics, food service management, ambulatory care, and community nutrition).
  • Pass rate of the first-time registration exam takers will be 80% or better over a five-year period.
  • One year after graduation, 80% of the program graduates will be employed as a Registered Dietitian, be enrolled in graduate school, or be undertaking some additional certifications (i.e. CDE).)
  • Self-assessed competency skill levels on the Survey of Graduate form will be satisfactory or higher.
  • Competency skill levels as assessed by employers of program graduates on the Outcomes Assessment Employer Survey will be satisfactory or higher.
  • Continuously improve the quality of teaching and supervised practice experiences with attention to individual needs.
  • Over a five-year period, the average rating of each component of the program by students on the end-of-the-year Program Evaluation form will be satisfactory or higher.
  • 100% of Dietetics Program faculty and preceptors will meet CDR requirements to maintain recency of education
  • Maintain full enrollment by attracting the best and brightest students, supporting diversity, and supporting students and their learning needs.
  • Over a five-year period, the Program will have 100% enrollment prior to program commencement.
  • Over a five-year period, the DI’s Program Completion Rate will be 80% or higher.
  • UConn resources (e.g., counseling services, student academic services) will be made available to 100% of the students who have been identified by Dietetics Faculty or supervised practice preceptors as needing these services.
  • Over a five-year period the Program will market the Internship to attract a diverse population in the hope of attracting underrepresented individuals.
  • Support high-quality nutrition research by faculty and students.
  • Each Intern will have a three-week rotation in dietetics research.
  • Over a five-year period, 75% of the Interns will have the opportunity to present their research in scholarly venues such as a poster session at the Connecticut Dietetic Association meetings.
  • Dietetics Faculty will meet the University requirements for research including publishing, presenting in scholarly venues, and obtaining funding to support these research activities.
