Dietetics at the University of Connecticut

Department of Nutritional Sciences

Students in the Didactic Program in Dietetics earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences. This program provides students with a CADE accredited curriculum.

Students apply to the University as a Nutritional Sciences major and follow the prescribed plan of study. Students following the specific curriculum will receive the BS degree in Nutritional Sciences and a Verification Statement indicating completion of the accredited curriculum in dietetics.

In order to be eligible to sit for the Registration Examination after graduation, students in the Didactic program must complete a Dietetic Internship* to earn the required supervised practice hours. During the senior year, students apply to these programs, which are generally 9 to 12 months in length. Upon completion of the Dietetic Internship, students are eligible to sit for the Registration Examination.
