Dr. Gregory Weidemann appointed Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources

April 9, 2008

Dr. Gregory Weidemann has been appointed Dean of the University of Connecticut College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Dr. Weidemann will begin at UConn on July 4 and comes to us from the University of Arkansas where he has been Dean of the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences and Associate Vice President for Academic Programs. These positions have given him a wealth of experience in areas such as personnel management, stakeholder and alumni relations, budget development and planning, fundraising, strategic planning, and policy development. In addition to the normal agricultural disciplines, Greg’s administrative responsibilities have included programs such as human nutrition, hospitality, family studies, forestry, and natural resources.

Greg brings to this position energy, enthusiasm, and an exciting vision for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. I am excited about this appointment and look forward to welcoming Greg as the newest member of the UConn family.

Thanks are due to Dean Richard Schwab and to all the members of the search committee for their stellar work. Also, I would like to acknowledge my personal debt of gratitude to Dean Kirklyn Kerr. We will have the opportunity to recognize Kirk later in the semester for his dedication and leadership of the College over the last 15 years. He has brought the College to a very high level of excellence in all its endeavors and I know that we are all appreciative of this fact.
